Christy Burke will be teaching a two hour American Sign Language class covering coffee shop specific terms and basic pleasantries.
This class is designed for those who work in coffee shops or restaurants but all are welcome. Come join us so we can all be better equipped to communicate with our deaf and hard of hearing customers and coworkers!
"Christy Burke has been Deaf since birth and was raised in San Clemente, California. Her first sign word was cracker. She has a Master's degree in Social Work and worked as a school counselor at Oregon School for the Deaf. She just moved back to D.C. after living in Portland, Oregon for almost two years. She is an avid traveler and has a passion for helping people. Her favorite cup of coffee is mocha with soy milk."
There will be food and drink specials available for the class.
